Sweigart Dominates PASS Opener

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Apr. 19, 2025) —  “Nitro Nick” Sweigart’s plan to focus on Port Royal Speedway in 2025 got off to a perfect start Saturday with a dominating victory in the 20-lap River Valley Builders PA Sprint Series feature at the “Speed Palace.” The veteran driver from Myerstown, already the leading career winner at Port Royal among active RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car competitors, officially won Saturday’s feature by 1.399 seconds over Logan Spahr, but he had given up multiple large leads when the race’s four yellow flags waved, only to quickly rebuild his margins at the next green. Despite the efforts of several challengers, none could compete with the Jon Williams-owned no. 89. The win was Sweigart’s 12th in a PASS career that dates to 2017, but it was his eighth at Port Royal, where he trails only Garrett Bard (13) and Jeff Miller (12) in career victories. He and Miller are the only two-time champions of the Keystone RaceSaver Challenge at Port Royal, and he will defend his champion title when the race takes place on [Read More]

Nerud Nets Bonus Cash With Last-Lap Pass at Eagle’s Ice Breaker Challenge

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Apr. 19, 2025) — Tyler Nerud had his work cut out for him if he hoped to double up at Eagle Raceway’s Ice Breaker Challenge and collect the extra $1,000 bonus offered for a repeat win in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, as he was starting deeper in the field from inside the sixth row. The first official lap saw Adam Vrbka showing the way. Vrbka continued to show the way, but Nerud effectively moved his way forward getting into third after a triple overtake on lap 7 and got into second around the midway mark. Nerud closed the gap steadily until he flew high and wide through turns 3 and 4 on the final lap and passed Vrbka just before the flag stand. Despite having to begin the race eleventh it did not deter the Dorchester driver’s path to the winner’s circle for his second feature win of 2025. Vrbka was second while Cole Wayman finished third. Shatzer Storms to Win at Hagerstown

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, MD (Apr. 19, 2025) — Starting out as a warm spring race night, Dylan Shatzer took Al Moser’s sprinter to the top spot and stayed there in the 25-lap RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car feature at Hagerstown Speedway. The co-sanctioned event between the Virginia Sprint Series and Laurel Highlands Sprint Series marked the 2025 season opener for the Virginia tour and showcased Shatzer’s dominance on the historic Maryland half-mile. As storms were on the way the feature started with Kolby Weaver and Colton Hindershot pacing the field to green, Weaver stayed high as Shatzer dove to the inside rail and was already going for the lead off turn four as he crossed the line just in front of Weaver and Donnie Hendershot. Shatzer really had the bottom line working as Ken Duke made his way to second with Weaver and Donnie Hendershot in tow. At the halfway mark it was still Shatzer with Duke and now John Scarborough making up the top three.   Nobody was giving up the bottom line up front [Read More]

Cook Claims Stock Car Thriller

By Ben Deatherage KENNEDALE, Texas (Apr. 12, 2025) — Cameron Cook powered to his second win of the season in the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Kennedale Speedway Park, holding off late challenges in a 20-lap barnburner. Christian Miller took the early lead before Damon Hammond slipped under him to lead lap 3. Cook, however, surged down the backstretch and used the top groove to edge past Hammond and take command the next time around the ¼-mile oval. Hammond, the defending KSP title winner, and Cook, the 2022 Texas State champion, both looked strong before cautions on laps eight and ten reset the field. That opened the door for Brett McMillin and Jerrett Bransom to take charge of podium positions. Bransom, a three-time KSP Stock Car champ, made a series of bids to pass Cook using the bottom groove. Each time, Cook’s momentum off the top held strong. On the final lap, Bransom tried one last move, but Cook again held firm. The 24-year-old from Mansfield picked up his second win of the season in [Read More]

Thomas Wins a Thriller at Lincoln Park

By Zack Pauley PUTNAMVILLE, Ind. (Apr. 11, 2025) – The feature event saw Ethan Barrow, the defending state champion, jump out to the early lead in the season opener for the Huntley’s Hoosier Winged Sprints at Lincoln Park Speedway. A couple of early cautions included Ryan Tusing’s slowing, who had previously flipped in his heat race, and a spin from Blake Sholders. The lone red flag of the race came when Tres Mehler flipped his machine on the bottom of the track in between turns three and four. While Ethan Barrow ripped the top of the track and picked off lapped cars, a war was being waged behind him. Jack Thomas from Bates City, Missouri, and Jordan Welch were blazing through the field trying to catch the leader. Thomas was penalized two spots after a late race caution for jumping a spot earlier on a restart, but it would not deter him from quickly getting back to second place with his eye on Barrow. In what could be described as a heavyweight fight, Barrow and Thomas [Read More]

Rasmussen Rallies to Second Straight California RaceSaver Win

By Ben Deatherage BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (Apr. 12, 2025) — The California RaceSaver Sprint Series delivered a thriller Saturday night, where Clovis chauffeur Kyle Rasmussen charged from sixth to win the 25-lap RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main event at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern County Raceway. Rasmussen made his move into second just before Pombo hit lapped traffic. With the field bunching up ahead of the leader, Rasmussen seized his opportunity—sliding under Pombo to take command entering turn one on lap 16. From there, Rasmussen never looked back. He powered away from the pack to secure his second straight win with the California RaceSaver Series in as many events. Pombo held on for second, with Phil Heynan completing the podium in third. The event was streamed live on IMCA TV affiliate Track Vision TV powered by Low Budget TV. The full replay is now available to subscribers through the IMCA TV Replay Subscription for just $24.99. By Don Hawkins HARLAN, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models were on tap at Shelby County Speedway’s Igloo 25 with a $1,000-to-win main event, and it was 20-year-old Jarrett Getzschman who made headlines at the drop of the checkered flag. The Council Bluffs racer took full advantage of a front row starting spot and looked composed throughout the feature. After grabbing the lead near the halfway point, Getzschman held off a charging field of veterans to score his first-ever IMCA Late Model victory. Brett Hopp made a last-lap bid but had to settle for second, while Nebraskan Kale Kosiski rounded out the podium in third. Greenwood Leads Every Lap for Sprint Car Score Jake Greenwood dominated the RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car main, leading every lap of the $1,000-to-win affair despite several stoppages—including a couple of red flags for flips. The 26-year-old from Woodward never wavered, even with South Dakota’s Less Goos Jr. charging from 10th to second late in the contest. It was Greenwood’s first win of the 2025 season.
