Car photos needed this fall for Allstar Performance heat win awards

VINTON, Iowa (June 2, 2023) – With the Memorial Weekend in the rearview, IMCA racing action will heat up literally and figuratively all the way to the end of the IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing point season. Correspondingly, drivers in all nine IMCA divisions winning heat races through the last full weekend of September receive heat win decals courtesy of Allstar Performance. Winning 10 or more heats this season gets them a $100 gift card from the Watervliet, Mich., high performance parts manufacturer. The driver, regardless of division, winning the most heat races gets a $250 gift card. The sole requirements, IMCA Marketing Integration and Sponsorship Director Carson Becker-Gramm reminds drivers, is that they must display those heat win decals on their race car and send a picture of their car proving decal placement, to be eligible. Photos should be emailed to contingencies@imca.com. “Heat win decals, and feature win decals from AERO Race Wheels, have been sent to every IMCA track,” said Becker-Gramm. “Drivers should make sure they are getting those on race nights and getting [Read More]

Spahr streak to six with latest Port Royal PASS checkers

By Frank Buhrman PORT ROYAL, Pa. (May 27, 2023) – The Logan Spahr dream season continued Saturday night at Port Royal Speedway when the Lewisberry driver captured his sixth straight River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature win of 2023 in the 20-lap race that was part of the Bob Weikert Memorial weekend featuring the All Star Circuit of Champions. The race ended up nearly a copy of the previous Saturday’s win (number five) at Selinsgrove Speedway: Spahr drew an advantageous third starting position for the feature, but then had to follow a determined early leader, in this case Jared Zionkowski. Spahr caught Zionkowski in traffic just past the race’s midway point and executed the winning pass on lap 14, going outside a slower car as Zionkowski passed inside. Finally, as with the previous week, a late caution flag gave Spahr’s challenger one last shot, but Spahr was up to the task and pulled away for a three-second final margin of victory. Zionkowski, a former semi-regular with PASS, nearly made his return after a season’s [Read More]

Much traveled Scarborough is RaceSaver winner at Natural Bridge

By Jim Haines NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. (May 27, 2023) – Being an IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car driver from Vermont, John Scarborough has traveled a lot. He says Natural Bridge Speedway in Virginia has become one of his favorite tracks and he showed why Saturday night by sweeping the night, topping his heat race and then the Virginia Sprint Series main event. Scarborough and Aaron Leach pacing the field at the start with Scarborough hugging the bottom and staying out front as fourth starting Jerald Harris quickly made his way to second. The top two stay glued to each other as they left the rest to trade spots all through the race. With the 20 laps going quickly, traffic was in Scarborough’s favorite line as Harris made a final push with two to go, getting inside the leader, but he could not make the pass and Scarborough flashed under the waving checkered flag first. It was Jerald Harris, Daren Bolac, Caleb Harris and Leach completing the top five behind him. Scarborough became the fourth different winner [Read More]

Brett Allen also won the RockStar Hard Charger of the Night award and an extra $100 from Schultz Custom Woodcrafters. Once again Cory Probst worked his magic and captured a clean sweep in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks. Jonathan Schroeder had a good lead but spun out in when he went too high in turn two and that gave Probst the moment he was waiting for as he had driven up from his 10th place start to challenge. Haney, Williams win first features at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (May 20, 2023) – It would be hard to top Saturday for a fantastic way to spend an evening out! Armed Forces Night at Eagle Raceway saw a big crowd, a pit full of cars and the best racing so far this year. Drivers battled two- and sometimes three-wide on the high banks, keeping everyone on the edge of their seats. Dylan Haney snagged the lead on the last lap in winning his career-first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature ahead of Gary Laflin and Jeremy Down. “I ran third pretty much most of the race, finally got to second and had five or six laps to chase the leader down. Then I flatfooted it right through there,” said Haney. “It was probably the happiest I’ve ever been racing.” Noah Williams snagged the lead on lap six of the Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMod feature and took the checkers a straightaway ahead of Joe Feyen. Third was Adam Armstrong. “I’ve been racing here for five years in a SportMod and it [Read More]

Spahr sets PASS record with fifth straight win

By Frank Buhrman SELINSGROVE, Pa. (May 20, 2023) – Technically, it took two days. Logan Spahr’s quest to become the first River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series driver to win five feature races in a row started late Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway and ended with the checkered flag falling on the Lewisberry driver and his Eshenaur Racing no. 5 IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car just seconds after midnight. In a non-stop feature that took barely six-and-a-half minutes to run, Spahr had accomplished what no one else had done in 25 years of PASS competition, and it wasn’t easy. Even with an advantageous third-place starting slot for the 20-lap feature, Spahr was looking at two-time PASS champion, 2019 IMCA RaceSaver national champ and hometown veteran Ken Duke in front of him, along with fast-improving Croix Beasom. Duke got the jump on Beasom to lead into the first turn as the race started with Spahr quickly moving into second. The two then spent the first half of the race two-to-three car-lengths apart, with Duke holding his advantage. [Read More]
