Shatzer Streaks to hometown Hub City Win

By Jim Haines HAGERSTOWN, Md. (Aug. 5, 2023) – Hometown driver Dylan Shatzer streaked to heat and feature wins in the Saturday night IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car show at Hagerstown Speedway. Twenty-four cars took to the Hub City oval in the Laurel Highlands Sprint Series and Virginia Sprint Series co-sanctioned event. Shatzer and Ryan Lynn paced the field to green with Shatzer low and Lynn high, but before the field could even settle down, Lynn coasted to a stop with mechanical issues. On the restart, Shatzer took off with Reed Thompson and Stevie Kenawell close behind. Shatzer was trying to run away as Thompson and Kenawell were keeping in touch, but even as traffic came in to play the track was wide with many groves it wouldn’t hold up Shatzer. IMCA features go 3-4-5 wide at Arlington

ARLINGTON, Minn. (Aug. 5, 2023) – The Sibley County Fair races provided three- and four- and even five-wide racing throughout the night in all divisions for the fans to enjoy Saturday at Arlington Raceway. The first feature saw Ben Davis lead the first four laps of the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock main but coming out of turn four he lost control of his car and allowed Cory Probst to take the lead from his 10th place start. Davis and Taylor Manderfield then had a good battle but Davis slid up and Manderfield was able to gain a position. On the next lap, Dan Probst was able to glide by both of those cars to take second behind son Cory. In the end, Cory Probst wins another feature with his dad taking second and Manderfield third. The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts saw five-wide racing for the first lap until the field spread out and then again after a restart. RaceSaver win at Eagle by Grossenbacher is a classic

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 5, 2023) – The final race of the night proved to be a classic on Rock ‘n Roll Classic Night Saturday at Eagle Raceway. Trevor Grossenbacher raced from 17th to first in scoring his first IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car feature win of the season. Grossenbacher was on a mission as he passed Jake Galusha for second with six laps to go. There were just two laps left when Josh Riggins spun out in turn two, setting up a battle to the finish between Grossenbacher and Tyler Drueke. Grossenbacher used a huge slider in turns three and four on the restart to grab the lead, then held on for the win with Drueke second and Adam Gullion third. “Everybody was kind of two-wide at the start and I couldn’t get my momentum going. Young is fastest at Selinsgrove for second PASS win

(July 29, 2023) – Drew Young’s breakout season kicked up another notch Saturday night when the Beaver Springs driver took his second career victory in the River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. Young drew the pole position, traded the lead with Doug Dodson and led the last half of the 20-lap race, followed throughout by Dodson, who finished 2.068 seconds behind. Friday night’s Big Diamond winner Zach Rhodes started and finished third, followed by Kenny Heffner and Austin Reed. Young had started on the pole and led the field into turn one on the opening lap, only to have Dodson use the high side to assume the lead coming off turn two. Dodson led nine laps before Young slipped past him on the inside and grabbed the lead for good. It was the second career win for Young, who had no prior racing experience and is in his third full season with PASS. Stock Car win at Eagle is IMCA first for Steinbach

(July 29, 2023) – It was a pretty good week for Marty Steinbach, who became a grandfather for the second time on Thursday and then won his career first IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature Saturday evening at Eagle Raceway. With just three laps left, leader Matt Boucher slid high in turn two, allowing Steinbach to pass him on the low side. Nate Thompson followed Steinbach into second as Boucher fell to third. Richards also got by Boucher to take over second place the following circuit. The final change in the top four came on the final lap as Dan Jackson put the no. 3 car into fourth. “It was a very good run. Matt pushed up and I got under him. Winning felt so good, Rhodes does it again

(July 28, 2023) – A week after his first career victory in the River Valley Builders Pennsylvania Sprint Series, Zach Rhodes showed it was no fluke and collected win number two Friday night at Big Diamond Speedway in his first-ever event at the track. The McVeytown racer put his IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Car out front from the get-go and held off a charging Kruz Kepner, who also won in last weekend’s racing at Path Valley, to win by .445 seconds in the 20-lap feature. Kepner had started seventh. Ken Duke came home third, followed by Erin Statler, who ran second in the early laps of the race, and Owen Dimm, who continues to post impressive finishes. John Walp, back with PASS after a run in 410 sprints, teamed up with friend and fellow driver Frank Rusnock and advanced from 19th starting position to 11th to win the W.C. Eshenaur & Son Hard Charger Award.

Double winner Looft avoids bad luck in Arlington’s turn three

ARLINGTON, Minn. (July 29, 2023) – The number 3 was unlucky Saturday night at Arlington Raceway as there were three rollovers in turn three that resulted in considerable damage to as many cars. The first was in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock race on the first lap when Travis Manderfield’s drive shaft broke and sent him rolling off the track. He was ok, but out of the race. Then Blake Foesch had the misfortune of rolling after an axle tube broke after leading the first three laps and he, too, was out of the race. When the race got started again, Chad Volk took the lead for two laps but undefeated for the season Cory Probst moved forward each lap from his 10th place start and took over the top spot on the sixth lap. Volk then contended with Jonathan Schroeder for second with Schroeder getting by him. Volk finished third ahead of Jed Trebelhorn. Jason Bolte led the entire Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact feature. IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars take on Front Row Challenge next Monday

OSKALOOSA, Iowa (July 31, 2023) – IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars will run for $1,000 to win, a minimum of $200 to start and an array of contingency awards next Monday, Aug. 7 when Southern Iowa Speedway hosts the 28th annual Sage Fruit Front Row Challenge. IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Iowa State points will be awarded. Heat race winners all receive $250 product certificates from Hepfner Racing Products and the hard charger receives a set of Armor seat belts from Ultra Shield Race Products. Scarborough sweeps Winchester

(July 29, 2023) – John Scarborough had a perfect night Saturday, winning his heat and taking the top spot of the feature at Winchester Speedway co-sanctioned by the Virginia Sprint Series and Laurel Highlands Sprint Series. Twenty-four IMCA RaceSaver Sprint Cars signed in on what turned out to be a breezy, nice evening. Scarborough and Ryan Lynn paced the feature to green with Scarborough staying low and leaving Lynn to deal with a charging Donnie Hendershot. The track was full of cars and traffic came in to play quickly, bunching up the frontrunners. Scarborough stayed low and worked his way through but not without Hendershot and Lynn staying right on him and sometimes next to him. Hendershot made a run for the lead after getting by Lynn but a yellow for a stalled car slowed the pace.
