Zeitner Doubles Up at Park Jefferson with Sweep of IMCA Late Model Features

By Ben Deatherage JEFFERSON, S.D. (June 6, 2025) — Zach Zeitner made it a perfect night in Sunoco IMCA Late Model action at Park Jefferson International Speedway, sweeping both features on a special Friday doubleheader. The Bellevue, Nebraska, driver claimed the regularly scheduled $1,000-to-win 25-lap feature and the rescheduled main event from the rained-out April 18 opener. In the evening’s headliner, Zeitner jumped to the lead early and was smooth and steady out front despite a couple of caution flags, including a key restart on lap 19. Kale Kosiski, the 2023 Crawford County Speedway track champion, managed to reel Zeitner in and pulled alongside with two laps to go. But Zeitner kept his composure, running the middle lane to perfection and holding off Kosiski at the finish. Eric Faber completed the podium in third. The win was Zeitner’s fourth of the season, and he also collected the Sunoco Race Fuels Bonus, which included a commemorative door panel, fuel jug, hat, and a $300 prize. Runge Wins $2,000 Robbie Conway Memorial SportMod Feature at Thunder Mountain

By Ben Deatherage BOTTINEAU, N.D. (Jun. 7, 2025) — Leevi Runge outlasted multiple restarts and late-race pressure to claim the $2,000-to-win Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at Thunder Mountain Speedway’s Robbie Conway Memorial and the fifth night of the Tougher Than Dirt Tour. The 25-lap main event, one of the highest-paying SportMod races in North Dakota, saw Runge take the lead from the outset. The Lampman, Saskatchewan racer — a three-time Estevan Motor Speedway SportMod track champion — maintained his edge through multiple cautions and a green-white-checkered finish. He held strong through it all to secure his second win of the week and first career Conway Memorial victory. Utah’s reigning Junior National Champion Payce Herrera rallied late to finish second, while Chad Strachan — the 2006 Sunoco IMCA Stock Car champ at both Geographical Center and McLean County Speedways — recorded his fourth third-place finish of the week. By Ben Deatherage JEFFERSON, S.D. (Jun. 7, 2025) — A new era begins at Park Jefferson International Speedway as the RTI Nationals shifts its spotlight to the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, which headline this year’s program with a lucrative $5,000-to-win and $250-to-start main event on Sunday, June 15. “The RTI Nationals has historically been a SportMod show, and they’re still a big part of the program going for good money,” said Park Jefferson promoter Wayne Becker. “But this year we wanted to try something different and give the Stock Cars a major spotlight. We’ve never had a big Stock Car show since I’ve owned the place, and we want to make it great.” Other divisions also enjoy strong payouts, with Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, Sunoco IMCA Late Models, and SportMods each racing for $1,000 to win. The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will also be in action, competing for a $500 winner’s share. All divisions except Stock Cars will use the draw/redraw format. By Ben Deatherage COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. (Jun. 6, 2025) — May 17 was more than just a night of racing at Cottage Grove Speedway. For Curtis and Tiffany Towns, it was magic — a shared dream realized. Racing in front of their hometown crowd, both husband and wife picked up wins in their respective IMCA divisions: Curtis in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, and Tiffany in the Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts. It marked Tiffany’s first career feature win, and for the Towns family, it was unforgettable. As she climbed out of her car and pumped her fists into the air, the crowd roared. Within seconds, Curtis sprinted into victory lane, wrapped her in a hug, and raised her arm in triumph. “I said once that my biggest dream was to win on the same night as Curtis,” she said. “To have it actually happen still doesn’t feel real.” A Journey From Skybox to Speedway Curtis began his racing career in 2006, following in the tire tracks of his uncle Don Muth — a local legend at [Read More]

Mike Smith Claims $1,000 Scott Cook One-Eye Memorial SportMod Victory

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 29, 2025) — It only took a month for Lake City’s Mike Smith to win his first major Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod event after moving from the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, a class he dominated for several years. On Thursday night, Smith pocketed a $1,000 payday by winning the Scott Cook Memorial One-Eye SportMod Special at Kossuth County Speedway. Smith and Jason Carney led the field to green, with Carney pacing lap one before Smith took command on the second circuit. A caution flew on lap three after Braden Claborn spun, and just two laps later, the red flag was displayed following a wild crash in front of the grandstands. Mat Hollerich and George Nordman tangled, sending the Mason City veteran into a violent double rollover. Fortunately, all drivers involved were uninjured. When the race resumed, multi-time winner Matthew Looft began to apply serious pressure on Smith. Looft briefly took the lead with two laps remaining, but Smith quickly regained control and held on for the win — his [Read More]

Richards Powers to Hobby Stock Glory in $1,500 Summer Nationals Finale at Clay County

By Ben Deatherage SPENCER, Iowa (Jun. 2, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks were in their final night of Summer Nationals competition at Clay County Fair Speedway on Monday night, and the $1,500-to-win 18-lap main event delivered an absolute thriller. Blake Luinenburg, the reigning track champion at both Murray County and Worthington Speedways, launched from the outside pole and immediately took command using the high groove. A caution on lap five bunched up the field, allowing Tyler Smith and 2022 National Hobby Stock champion Dillon Richards to close in on the restart. Luinenburg built another strong lead, but Richards — who started 14th — began methodically searching the track for speed. He found it, and by lap 12, he was at the leader’s door. Richards worked the bottom while Luinenburg held firm up top. The two exchanged the lead before a caution flew just after Luinenburg reclaimed the spot. On the restart with five to go, Richards pulled even and took the lead for good on lap 15. Luinenburg mounted one last-lap charge, but the [Read More]

By Kaden Krebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (May 30, 2025) — The RBF Electric/Mid States Boring-sponsored Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock feature at Marshalltown Speedway paid $1,000 to win, and it delivered in the excitement department. Tom Killen Jr. started on the pole, with Kolby Sabin to his outside. Killen led lap one before last week’s winner, Kevin Sather, worked past him and held the top spot for much of the race. Bradly Graham wasn’t going to let him run away with it. Graham reeled him in, battled side by side, and made the winning move with two laps to go. He beat Sather to the line to secure his first Marshalltown victory of 2025 and third win overall in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region. Eric Stanton completed the podium in third. Carter Charges to Stock Car Win at MoTown The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars brought plenty of action. Trebelhorn Thrills Arlington Crowd With Stock Car Triumph

By Susan Allen ARLINGTON, Minn. (May 31, 2025) — A new face in victory lane had the crowd roaring as Jed Trebelhorn and A.J. Zimmerman started on the front row of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event and raced side by side for the first five laps until Tim Pessek worked his way into the mix. A yellow flag waved when Mark Zimmerman spun in turn four and exited the track. On the restart, Trebelhorn maintained the point and took off, while Pessek, Zimmerman, and Josh Larson battled for second. Another caution came on lap ten when Randy Melvin had issues and pulled off the track. Trebelhorn again led the field to green and withstood heavy pressure. Some drivers found grip on the top, others searched low, but lap by lap, Trebelhorn held on for an exciting win — his first career Stock Car victory at Arlington and in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Larson finished second, with Pessek close behind in third. Loverude Outlasts Hatlestad for Second Arlington Modified Triumph of the Year [Read More]
