Masters Masters Clay County in Stock Car Blue Ribbon Showdown

By Ben Deatherage SPENCER, Iowa (Sept. 11, 2025) — Jake Masters from Graettinger came out on top of a caution-filled Blue Ribbon Showdown 20-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Clay County Fair Speedway, holding off the Brands family to earn his third EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the season and his second at the track. Levi Feltman showed the way at the start before a caution on lap one quickly slowed the pace. Masters wasted no time on the restart, blasting to the high side and charging into contention. After another yellow on lap four, Masters stayed committed to the cushion and powered to the front on lap eight. Traffic closed the gap as Randy and Austin Brands worked through the field, setting up a tense three-car fight. A late caution waved with two circuits remaining, tightening the field for a green–white–checkered finish. Randy threw everything he had at Masters but had to fend off son Austin in their battle for second, giving Masters the breathing room he needed. At the stripe, [Read More]

Braaksma Repeats in Rage 40 at Fayette County

By Ben Deatherage WEST UNION, Iowa (Aug. 23, 2025) — Ethan Braaksma of Newton topped the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified Rage 40 at Fayette County Speedway, pocketing $2,000 for his second straight win in the 40-lap special. The defending race winner added to an already impressive season with his 12th victory of 2025, 10 of them in the Razor Chassis North Central Region. Ryan Maitland jumped to the lead at the drop of the green and paced the opening circuits until a lap-seven caution bunched the field. On the restart, Spencer Diercks powered around the high side to take over on lap eight, while Braaksma worked his way into second by lap 12 aboard the Danny Meier and Trent Guest-owned no. 111. By lap 15, Braaksma was reeling in Diercks, and one lap later he used the top groove to take command. Lapped traffic came into play on lap 19, but Braaksma had no trouble slicing through before another yellow slowed the pace. On the restart, the two-time defending Dakota Tour and reigning IMCA TV Winnter [Read More]

1,156 pre-entries a new Super Nationals record

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 29, 2025) – If pre-registration trends are any indication, the 43rd annual Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s may be one for the record book. It actually already is. By the time pre-registration closed Thursday night at midnight, an impressive 1,156 drivers from 33 states, Canada and Australia reserved their place to compete on IMCA Racing’s biggest stage at Boone Speedway Aug. 30-Sept. 6. Other new highs were set in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods with 203 pre-entries, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks with 185 and Stealth Racing STARS IMCA Mod Lites with 93. Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds narrowly missed a pre-entry record, with 254 entering early. Their pre-entry best was 263 in 2022. Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact pre-entries totaled 95, one shy of that division record, which was set in 2023. Sunoco [Read More]

Shryock Dominates Stock Cars at Algona; Adds to Big Season Tally

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (Aug. 21, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Kossuth County Speedway for the Jade Lange Memorial brought 17 cars to the track, with pole sitter Kelly Shryock showing once again why he’s been the class of the field all year. Shryock jumped out front at the start and controlled the pace until a lap-12 yellow slowed things. After a complete restart, cautions for Mike Albertsen’s spin and a small fire under Colby Fett’s hood briefly delayed the action, but none of it rattled Shryock. He powered away to his eighth victory of the year at Kossuth County Speedway, and his 19th in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region for 2025. Kevin Opheim was runner-up, followed by Chad Palmer, Devin Tripp, and Calvin Lange. Tripp picked up the hard charger honors, improving seven positions. Shryock’s season dominance also locked down the track championship with a commanding 62-point margin.
