2025 Great Plains Tour Tightens as Final Weekend Approaches

By Suzan McCoy North Platte, Neb. (July 21, 2025) — With just two events left on the 2025 BST IMCA Great Plains Tour, the pressure is building and championship hopes are hanging in the balance. Drivers in all divisions are jockeying for position as the tour wraps up Sunday, July 27 at Dawson County Raceway and Monday, July 28 at Lincoln County Raceway. The Monday finale, billed as Monday Night Madness for Money, features $1,000 to win in all IMCA divisions at Lincoln County. The draw/redraw format awards national, regional, state, tour, and track points through Speedway Motors IMCA Weekly Racing. It’s a must-see event in the heart of the North Platte Fair. Steffens Leads, But Not By Much in the Modifieds Ayden Steffens enters the final weekend with 212 points in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, but his lead is anything but secure. Troy Seidl (194) and Jacob Tobey (186) are both within striking distance, while Bubba Alvarado (172) isn’t out of the hunt yet. One misstep could shuffle the order dramatically. Belec Leads the Way in the Modifieds at Colby

By Sheldon Wickwar COLBY, Kan. (July 18, 2025) – The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds closed out Friday’s program with a 15-lap feature event that began with Danny Keller and John Fabrizius on the front row. Fabrizius paced the field early and led the opening circuit, but ‘90s standout Mike Bainter stormed to the point on lap two, leading for the first time since his return to racing last season. Eddie Belec and Dakota Sproul wasted no time charging to the front, taking control by lap three. Belec held firm out front the rest of the way, even as lapped traffic allowed Sproul to close the gap late in the race. Belec stayed smooth to notch his second Jet Racing Central Region win of the season—both coming at Thomas County Speedway. Sproul settled for second, followed by Dylan Sherfick in third. Porter Keeps Pressure on in Sport Compacts The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts battled it out for 12 laps, with Nathan Vollbracht and Grant Logue leading the field to green. It didn’t take long for Gage Porter [Read More]

Richards Rallies From 17th to Victory in Wild Eagle Stock Car Feature

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (July 19, 2025) — It took three tries to get the feature going for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at Eagle Raceway, and when it finally did, it turned into one of the most thrilling races of the night. A massive seven-car pileup in turn four on the original start and a second pileup on the restart shook up the field early. Once the action finally found rhythm, Travis Patterson took command with Dana Deeke and Tim Drake following. But the driver to watch was Mason Richards, who charged from his 17th starting spot like a man on a mission. Richards steadily reeled in the leaders and took control with six circuits to go, overcoming an early 1.4-second gap to Patterson. Chad Andersen mounted a late rally of his own, swapping spots with Deeke as the two battled hard for third. At the line, Richards secured his sixth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the season and third Stock Car win at Eagle in 2025. Patterson and Andersen were second [Read More]

Ryan Cashes In Late to Win Wild Late Model Main at Davenport

By Mike McGuire DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 18, 2025) – Friday night at Davenport Speedway belonged to the first-timers — at least for 2025. Three feature winners parked in victory lane for the first time this season on the banks of the Mississippi, led by Matt Ryan in the Sunoco IMCA Late Models. The headline event looked more like a game of musical chairs than a race to the checkers. Jesse Bodin paced the opening circuit before Joe Beal charged to the front and appeared strong, only to pull off after five laps. Bodin resumed the lead for a short stint, but was soon overtaken by Bryce Garnhart, who took control until mechanical issues ended his bid on lap 15. Bodin again inherited the top spot, but Matt Ryan had worked his way into the mix and made his move on lap 22. The Dubuque driver led the final four circuits to claim his first Late Model win of the season at the ¼-mile oval, and 25th career victory at Davenport. The win was also Ryan’s second [Read More]

By Chad Meyer BRITT, Iowa (July 18, 2025) — Friday’s racing action at Hancock County Speedway brought the Hobby Stock Clash of the Titans to the Britt coliseum. Cory Probst made the most of his first trip to the track this season. Drawing the third starting spot in the Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock main, he battled early with Josh Sidles before taking control and leading the rest of the way to victory. Sidles held off a hard-charging Josh Monson to finish second.  Probst now has 21 wins in the B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region in 2025. The top six from each Hobby Stock main qualified for the night-ending Clash of the Titans, a 12-lap dash that paid $500 to win. Josh Monson wasted no time grabbing the lead and drove off to win the Clash for the second straight year. Jeremy Wegner was runner-up, while Oliver Monson completed the top three. Thornton and Carter Split Stock Car Segments at Joey Hergott Memorial at Beatrice

By Ben Deatherage BEATRICE, Neb. (Jul. 14, 2025) –– Ricky Thornton Jr. stormed from third to first in the closing laps of the 22-lap opening segment for the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars at the Joey Hergott Memorial at Beatrice Speedway, collecting a $3,000 payday and adding yet another impressive chapter to his IMCA résumé. The four-time Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner—twice in Friesen Performance Modifieds and twice in Sunoco IMCA Late Models—put the Jordan Graoubski Racing no. 20RT entry to the top shelf to track down early leader Cayden Carter and make the winning move on lap 20. The first stage began with hometown ace and four-time track champion Kyle Vanover grabbing the lead before a caution on lap one. Carter took over on lap nine in the Mike Peterson Motorsports no. 1X, but as the laps clicked by, Thornton closed fast. A yellow with six laps to go bunched the field, and Thornton used it to his advantage, surging past Carter in turn three with two to go. Brayton Carter went from 10th [Read More]

Kyle Olson Doubles Up at Benton County

By Christine Rublack VINTON, Iowa (Jul. 13, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods gave the Benton County Speedway crowd a thrilling show to kick off feature racing as Kyle Olson raced his way to his fourth win of the season and third at Benton County Speedway. Luke Bird showed the way early, but Tony Olson quickly moved into the top spot and looked strong until Kyle Olson made his presence known in the top three just a few laps in. As the race progressed, the Olsons pulled away from the field while Brady Hilmer settled into third. Kyle continued to chip away at Tony’s lead before making the pass for the lead with just a few laps to go. Kyle went on to win, with Tony finishing second and Hilmer rounding out the podium. Olson Makes It Two with Stock Car Score Kyle Olson returned to victory lane later in the evening with his first Sunoco IMCA Stock Car win of the season.
