Hagen Surges Late to Win Monte Lundy Memorial at Nodak

By Ben Deatherage MINOT, N.D. (Aug. 17, 2025) — McGregor’s Travis Hagen powered from eighth starting to win the Second Annual Monte Lundy Memorial for the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds, pocketing $4,014 on Sunday night at Nodak Speedway’s “Playground of Power.” The victory was Hagen’s 10th of the season in the Razor Chassis North Central Region and his sixth at Minot. 2014 Nodak Speedway title winner Drew Christianson led the opening laps before cautions slowed the early going. 2017 IMCA national kingpin Jason Wolla — also a two-time North Dakota State and former Nodak Speedway titlist — applied pressure on the restart, while four-time reigning Estevan Motor Speedway track ruler Kody Scholpp used the outside groove to grab the lead on lap six. Christianson briefly regained the point after a lap 14 restart, but Scholpp battled back on the high side. Defending Monte Lundy Memorial winner Aaron Turnbull, the 2013 Dakota Classic Modified Tour titlist, soon entered the fight, with multiple cautions — including one on lap 23 — keeping the leaders tight. Baker Survives Fiery Finish in Stock Cars at Eagle

By Greg Soukup EAGLE, Neb. (Aug. 16, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature turned into the night’s wildest thriller at Eagle Raceway. Mike Lineberry jumped out early, but Trevor Baker worked steadily through the pack and used a restart to muscle his way to the lead. Chad Andersen came charging from mid-pack to give chase while Lineberry held his ground in third, creating a tight battle inside the top three. Baker appeared unstoppable once he gained the top spot, but the checkered flag was only the beginning of his drama. Just after crossing the finish line, his engine detonated in a burst of flames. Baker safely climbed out as fire crews swarmed the car, and the crowd roared at both the victory and the spectacle. The win marked Baker’s first in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region this season. Andersen’s runner-up effort vaulted him into the points lead, while Lineberry’s consistency kept him on the podium. Murty Muscles Past Carter for Stock Car Thriller

By Kaden Krebs MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Aug. 8, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car main event at Marshalltown Speedway was the showstopper of the night, going 20 hard-fought laps. Ethan Atcheson and Dillon Solum brought the field to green, with Solum pacing the opening lap before a quick caution with 19 to go. Solum, Brayton Carter, and Dallon Murty staged an early three-way fight for the top spot until another yellow at lap 16 bunched them again. Carter pounced on the restart, taking the lead with 15 to go, but Murty stayed in striking distance. After a final caution with five laps left, Murty and Carter pulled away from the pack, with David Brandiss and Jimmy Gustin joining the scrap in the closing laps. Murty outdueled Carter at the stripe to back up his win from the previous week — his sixth Stock Car victory of 2025, two of them at Marshalltown and five in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region. Carter, Brandiss, Gustin, and Solum completed the top five. Berry Jr. Bests Murty in Modified [Read More]

Maughlin Grabs Household Victory at RPM

By Sheldon Wickwar HAYS, Kan. (Aug. 9, 2025) — The Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature at RPM Speedway had a little extra on the line besides a trip to victory lane — household bragging rights. Polesitter Brianna Maughlin jumped out front from the get-go and quickly had company from her boyfriend, Kamren Gruber, who shot into second. The two traded close-quarters laps with Gruber peeking low a few times but unable to get alongside. A mid-race caution for spins by Jack Kirchoff and Justin Meserve bunched the field, but Maughlin stayed poised and powered away on the restart. She scored her second win of the season and third of her career, with Gruber settling for second and Chad Dolan in third. Schwien Outduels Compact Field for Sixth Win The Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compact main event saw Jacob Kappel and Kyle Mortensen lead the early charge, but the heavy hitters soon arrived. Connor Schwien, Gage Porter, and Kiowa Higdon muscled their way into contention, swapping positions in a fierce three-way fight. Contact and close calls were [Read More]

Ryan Rules Late Models at Maquoketa

By Jerry Mackey MAQUOKETA, Iowa (Aug. 9, 2025) — Infrequent visitor Matt Ryan dominated the 25-lap Season Championship feature at Maquoketa Speedway for the Sunoco IMCA Late Models. Starting inside the second row, Ryan quickly powered to the front and led the remainder of the race, taking the win ahead of seventh-starting Logan Veloz. The points battle came into the night with Jake Morris holding a slim two-point lead over Steve Johnson. When the checkers waved, Morris finished one spot behind Johnson — enough to claim the IMCA Late Model track championship by a single point. Ryan’s victory was his third of the season, each coming at a different track. Diercks Delivers in Modifieds The Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds Season race came down to a head-to-head battle between Spencer Diercks and Charlie Mohr. Both drivers ran the high side with precision, but a slight bobble by Mohr opened the door for Diercks to take the lead and drive away to victory. Mohr held second ahead of Justin Veloz. Despite a sixth-place finish, Jaden Fryer had built [Read More]
