Mallicoat Breaks Through for Modified Win at Boone Season Opener

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (Apr. 12, 2025) —Eighteen-year-old Izac Mallicoat thrilled his hometown crowd at the 2025 Boone Speedway season opener, scoring his first Friesen Performance IMCA Modified win of the campaign Saturday night. Mallicoat took off from the green and built a comfortable lead in the 20-lap caution-free main event. Meanwhile, 2007 IMCA Super Nationals champion Todd Shute slotted into second and tried to keep pace. The battle for second intensified as Jeremy Mills, an eight-time track title winner at Hancock County Raceway, applied pressure on Shute. Mills eventually worked his way into the runner-up spot on lap 14. Despite dealing with lapped traffic in the closing laps, Mallicoat never missed a beat, crossing the line with a healthy advantage. Reimers Outduels Suckow in Epic SportMod Showdown at Boone

By Ben Deatherage BOONE, Iowa (April 5, 2025) — Cam Reimers emerged victorious in a back-and-forth battle with Cole Suckow to win Saturday’s 20-lap Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMod feature during the Iowa Frostbuster at “Iowa’s Action Track,” Boone Speedway. Suckow, the defending Independence Motor Speedway champion, led early after a tight duel with 2023 Harris Clash winner Reimers. The two traded the top spot multiple times through the middle portion of the race while navigating lapped traffic. A late caution with eight laps to go set up a dramatic finish. Reimers took the lead on lap 14, but Suckow answered a lap later. Reimers again surged ahead on lap 17, only for Suckow to reclaim it. Luinenburg Wins Wild Stock Car Showdown at Marshalltown Frostbuster

By Ben Deatherage MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (Apr. 4, 2025) — Justin Luinenburg held off a pair of heavyweights in a dramatic finish to win the 25-lap Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature at Marshalltown Speedway in the opening round of the 2025 Frostbuster series. The Reading, Minnesota, driver, a three-time Murray County Speedway track champion and 2015 Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stock National titleholder, fought off Maguire DeJong early and then survived a three-wide duel in the final corner. Three-time Marshalltown Stock Car titlist Steve Meyer gave chase early while Kelly Shryock worked into third in the Mike Hauan-owned Lake Mills Motorsports No. 3. Bellm Breaks Through in Thaw Brawl Stock Car Showdown

(Mar. 29, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Stock Car 25-lap main event capped off the second and final night of the Thaw Brawl at Aztec Speedway’s 73rd season opener, and it ended with 19-year-old Lady Eagle racer Layne Bellm collecting her first win of the year. 1997 track champion Tony Hill won the race to the front on lap one and created early separation. The battle for second heated up between Jeremy Hughes and Casey Murdoch, with Murdoch eventually winning the fight and setting his sights on Hill. Murdoch began closing the gap as Bellm, the 2023 Phillips County Raceway champion from Bloomfield, Colorado, moved into third. The race took a sudden turn when Hill slowed to a stop on lap 10, retiring to the pits and handing the lead to Murdoch. The feature began with Johnny Yutterman and Kolby Stegman on the front row, but it didn’t take long for Jason Rogers and Troy Burkhart to charge to the front. The 2007 Speedway Motors IMCA Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s winner set the early pace on the 3/8-mile Davis County Fairgrounds oval before a lap 11 caution erased his advantage.
