FARLEY, Iowa (Aug. 28, 2025) — The Sunoco IMCA Late Models opened the Yankee Dirt Classic at 300 Raceway with a stout 22-car field. Peosta’s Eric Pollard, the three-time defending IMCA Late Model track champion at Dubuque, led the field into turn one and never looked back.

Pollard went flag-to-flag for the victory, his third win of the season, but it was anything but easy. Logan Veloz charged from his fourth-row start and staged a late-race challenge that came up just short at the checkers. Matt Ryan rounded out the top three.

Lund Lands Stock Car Yankee Victory

The Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars drew a talented 32-car field, and the 2024 Yankee winner delivered again. Curt Lund of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, started third and powered his way to another memorable win.

Lund held off several challengers after a couple of minor cautions, securing his fourth EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region victory of the year at his third different track. Tom Schmitt claimed runner-up honors while Johnny Spaw edged Kodey Miles at the line in a side-by-side finish for third.

Braaksma Bests Loaded Modified Field

The Friesen Performance IMCA Modified feature was stacked with talent, but Newton’s Ethan Braaksma added another big win to his résumé. Charging forward from an eighth-place starting spot, Braaksma battled to the lead and never looked back, collecting his 13th win of the season.

It was Braaksma’s 11th Razor Chassis North Central Region victory and came at his 12th different track this year, showcasing his versatility. Arizona native Tim Ward finished second while past National champion Jeff “Bone” Larson of Illinois settled for third.

Roth Rolls to SportMod Yankee Triumph

Another Dubuque Speedway track champion found Yankee glory as Jason Roth topped the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods. Roth advanced steadily from his fourth-row starting spot to capture his 10th win of the season.

Cole Stichter finished second while Josh Starr completed the podium. The win was Roth’s first Yankee title and a strong finish to his championship season.

Ballard Battles Through for Hobby Stock Win

The Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks brought 28 cars to the Yankee Dirt Classic, and the action was as wild as expected. Trading paint and brushing the wall were part of the night as drivers battled for every inch.

When the checkered flew, Nathan Ballard emerged on top, claiming his fourth B&B Racing Chassis Northern Region win of the year, all at three different tracks. Jordan Miles thrilled the crowd with a drive from 16th to second, and Carsen Udelhofen completed the top three.

Unfortunately, Friday’s scheduled program of the Yankee Dirt Classic fell victim to persistent afternoon rain showers. With weather continuing for hours, officials were forced to cancel the second night of action, which will not be rescheduled due to conflicts on the racing calendar.

The event was broadcast live on IMCA TV affiliate Done Right TV. Catch every lap again with the IMCA TV Replay Subscription, available for just $24.99/month. And don’t miss Season 2 of the Boone Docuseries, now streaming exclusively on IMCA TV.
