COOS BAY, Ore. (June 15, 2025) — 2022 IMCA Wild West Speedweek champion and 2019 Shaw Race Cars Western Region titleholder Bricen James made it two-for-two in 2025 Speedweek competition with a dominant win in the Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds at Coos Bay Speedway.

Piloting the Schram Motorsports no. 13, the Albany, Ore. native jumped to the lead at the drop of the green and never looked back. A pair of cautions on lap five were the only interruptions in the 35-lap feature. James was strong on the restart and began stretching his lead until reaching lapped traffic by lap 17.

Despite the heavy traffic, James made all the right moves to keep his lead safe and sailed to victory. The win was his second career Speedweek triumph at Coos Bay, his 13th career Speedweek win overall—tying him with Collen Winebarger for second on the all-time list—and his fourth Shaw Race Cars Western Region win of 2025.

California’s Ethan Killingsworth earned runner-up honors while 2023 Skagit Speedway track champion Geoff Morris rounded out the podium in third.

Wild Credited With Coos Bay Stock Car Victory

Trevor Hidalgo paced the early circuits of the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car feature in the Mike Shea-owned no. 7M. He was tracked down by 16-year-old Mason Myers on lap 10, but the real charge came from three-time defending Speedweek champion Chase Berkeley.

Berkeley overtook Myers on lap 16 and led the remainder of the race, which saw just one caution on lap 19. However, in post-race tech inspection, Berkeley was docked two positions for a wheelbase violation.

That handed the win to his brother-in-law, Colville, Washington’s B.J. Wild, who started 11th aboard the Dwayne Klein-owned No. 22K. It marked Wild’s first win in the EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region for 2025 and his second career Speedweek win.

Tyler Pagel was elevated to second, while Berkeley was officially scored third.

Colville, Washington’s B.J. Wild was credited with the Sunoco IMCA Stock Car victory on June 15 at Coos Bay Speedway, earning his first EQ Cylinder Heads Northern Region win of the 2025 season and a hard-fought second career IMCA Wild West Speedweek triumph. (Series Photo)

Sanders Reigns Again With Fourth Straight Coos Bay Speedweek Win

Matt Sanders made it look easy in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods, leading all 25 laps for his fourth consecutive IMCA Wild West Speedweek win at Coos Bay.

The Brookings driver, and defending Speedweek champion, took command at the start and checked out following cautions on laps five and seven. Even in traffic, Sanders never missed a beat en route to his eighth career Speedweek win, which puts him alone atop the all-time list.

Trevor Points, the 2023 Oregon State champion, fended off a strong challenge from Aaron Bloom to finish second. Bloom wheeled the Schram Motorsports-provided no. 333 to a third-place result.
