Scott Cook One Eye Memorial Set for May 29 at Kossuth County Speedway

ALGONA, Iowa (May 28, 2025) — A special tribute to a beloved local individual headlines the action this Thursday night at Kossuth County Speedway, as the inaugural Scott Cook One Eye Memorial brings the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods to center stage.

The marquee feature will award $1,000 to win and $100 to start, honoring the legacy of Scott Cook with a strong field expected for the one-of-a-kind event. Drivers and fans alike are invited to remember Cook and celebrate his passion for racing with a full night of IMCA-sanctioned competition.

In addition to the SportMod headliner, Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds will also be racing for a boosted purse, with an extra $100 added to the Modified feature winner’s payday.

Also on the card are the Sunoco IMCA Stock Cars, Sunoco IMCA Hobby Stocks, and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts, all competing for IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional, state, and track points.

Grandstand admission is just $12.00, and kids 12 and under are admitted free. Pit passes are $30.00. The pit gate opens at 4:30, followed by the drivers’ meeting at 6:45, and racing to follow shortly thereafter.

Meyer, Shryock get wins, top checks at Kossuth County’s Salute to Veterans show

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (July 18) – On a night that Kossuth County Speedway in Algona saluted our country’s veterans, Nick Meyer and Kelly Shryock came home with big paydays as each driver paced $2,000 to win IMCA features. The winner at Algona and at Hancock County Speedway the previous weekend, Meyer raced to his third straight IMCA Modified victory while putting his name of the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot. D.J. Shannon had taken advantage of his pole start in the Beck Seeds $2,000 to win event and led early. Meyer took over the top spot after midway and held on to win for the second straight week. Shryock had a solid run in his no. 3 rig to finish second with Shannon taking third as Todd Shute was fourth and Jeff Feaster was fifth. Six new winners find victory lane at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (June 24) – For the first five weeks at Kossuth County Speedway, a handful of drivers have dominated the six weekly divisions. That all changed as six different drivers found victory lane for the first time this summer at the track on Thursday, June 24. The main attraction of the night was the $1,000 to win Wyffels Hybrid sponsored Karl Kustoms Northern SportMod special as Gerald Curry and Alex Smith brought the 17-car field to the flag stand. Curry jumped out front early and kept his no. 32 rig out front with Austin Schrage lurking two to three car lengths behind but seemingly could get no closer. Every time Schrage inched a little tighter, Curry increased his lead the next lap and went onto to claim the first place prize money in the biggest win of his racing career. Reutzel rules at Kossuth County

By Greg Grabianowski ALGONA, Iowa (May 24) – Tad Reutzel, sporting a new design on his 5R rig, survived four yellow flags to lead the whole way and win Thursday’s IMCA Modified main event at Kossuth County Speedway. Reutzel held off challenges late from Austin Wolf and Jay Noteboom to earn his first local feature win of the season. Randy Brands dominated the IMCA Sunoco Stock Car feature, starting on the pole before running away and hiding from the rest of the field in a race that went green white checkered. Kyle Sidles jump out fast in the IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stock feature and led most of the race before Daniel Smith came on late to take the lead with one lap remaining and went onto his first victory of the year at Algona. Combs, Wilson, Johnson Crowned Central California Clash Champions

By Ben Deatherage VINTON, Iowa (May 28, 2025) — Josh Combs, Dylan Wilson, and Nicholas Johnson each made history with their first career Central California Clash championships in their respective Speedway Motors IMCA divisions, capping a competitive four-race tour across the Golden State. Roseville’s Josh Combs clinched the Friesen Performance IMCA Modified title with a strong and consistent week. After opening with a ninth-place finish at Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern County Raceway Park, he stormed to victory at Santa Maria. Combs followed that with a runner-up finish at Merced before closing the series with a fifth-place run at Petaluma. Bakersfield youngster Gavyn Manning was runner-up in points after finishing second on opening night, taking ninth at Santa Maria, winning at Merced, and wrapping up the week 10th at Petaluma. Oliver Returns to Winning at Beckley Motor Speedway

(May 24, 2025) — Jeff Oliver from Pendergrass, Georgia, ended a nearly year-long winless streak with a hard-earned victory in Saturday’s Carolina Sprint Tour presented by GSR Chassis main event at Beckley Motor Speedway. The co-sanctioned show with the Ohio Thunder Sprint Car Series brought 19 RaceSaver IMCA Sprint Car teams to the West Virginia high banks for a chilly but action-packed night. Oliver, who last visited victory lane in June of 2023, charged to the front after a lap 15 tangle between early front-runners Cale Cozad and Jadan Bowling reshuffled the order. The incident opened the door for Oliver, who grabbed the lead on the ensuing restart and never looked back. Wyatt Justice led early from the pole and looked poised for his first career series win before Oliver made the decisive move. Justice settled for second, fending off a strong late effort from Jeff Weaver, who completed the podium in third. The win was the 20th of Oliver’s Carolina Sprint Tour career.

Rindt Wins SportMod Feature in Front of Hometown Fans at Shawano

(May 24, 2025) — Hometown driver Tommy Rindt earned his first win of the season in the Karl Chevrolet IMCA Northern SportMods at Shawano Speedway, thrilling the local crowd with a strong restart and clean drive to the checkers. Outside pole sitter Bryce Clements rocketed to the lead at the drop of the green and looked like the car to beat in the early going. Michael Springborn followed close behind with plenty of company in tow. But Rindt, wheeling his way through the pack, caught fire mid-race and began closing in. As the laps ticked away, Tommy Rindt engaged in a heated battle with the 81 machine of AJ Springborn, the two trading moves in a tight race for the lead.
