Kollofski comes up big time for $1,000 IMCA Modified win at Jackson Nationals

JACKSON, Minn. (Sept. 29) – An IMCA Modified driver who followed a part-time schedule this year came up big time Saturday at Jackson Motorplex.

Oliver Kollofski won the Jackson Nationals main event, earning $1,000 and a Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot berth.

“There were a couple caution flags that came out at the right time and a found a little grip in (turns) three and four, the Fairmont veteran said. “It’s really neat to race at such an amazing facility. Jackson is a great track.”

Kollofski kept the same setup that took him to fifth place in the Friday feature, started ninth in the Saturday show and restarted third for the final caution midway through the 20-lapper.

He passed Jason Fisher for the front spot three laps later.

Fisher, Ricky Stephan and Josh Foster completed the top four.

Big car counts meant extra money for Karl Chevrolet Northern SportMods and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks as well on Saturday. SportMod winner Dan Paplow took $1,200 to the bank while Matt Hanson’s run to the Hobby Stock checkers was good for $1,000.

Paplow won ahead of 12th starting Jared Boumeester and Cody Thompson. Hanson was best in front of Trevor Holm and Greg Sidles.

Jay DeVries swept weekend Mach-1 Sport Compact features at Jackson.

Other Friday winners were Clint Hatlestad in the Modifieds, Thompson in the SportMods and Cory Probst in the Hobbies.

Nearly 100 drivers competed.

Four Tuesday dates for five IMCA divisions slated at Jackson Motorplex

JACKSON, Minn. – Four Tuesday dates for five IMCA divisions are on the upcoming Jackson Motorplex schedule. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars, IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks, Karl Kustoms Northern SportMods and Mach-1 Sport Compacts take to the four-tenth’s mile dirt oval at Jackson on June 9, June 30, July 21 and Aug. 25. The Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds is in town for the July date. IMCA Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour opens with three races in three states

VINTON, Iowa – Three nights to remember take the Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds to three tracks in as many different states. Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, S.D., hosts its first opening night tour event, paying $1,500 to win the Monday, July 20 show.  Events on Tuesday, July 21 at Jackson, Minn., Motorplex and Wednesday, July 22 at Buena Vista Raceway in Alta, Iowa, both pay $1,000 to win.  All three races are Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events and will feature top drivers from around the Midwest as well as travelers from around the IMCA Nation.  The tour has yet to see a repeat champion through its first 10 seasons. Tuesday’s Dirt Knights Tour show among events as Jackson Motorplex suspends remaining 2020 schedule

JACKSON, Minn. – Due to the state restrictions, limitations on crowds and lack of recent updates for outdoor venues in Minnesota, the Jackson Motorplex has decided to suspend all remaining events in 2020 effective immediately.  Among the events affected is the Tuesday, July 21 Speed Shift TV Dirt Knights Tour for IMCA Modifieds. The 11th annual tour opens July 20 at Park Jefferson Speedway and is at Buena Vista Raceway on July 22.  Monday’s main event at Jefferson, S.D., pays $1,500. Pit gates open at 4 p.m. and racing follows 6:30 p.m. hot laps.  And on Wednesday at Alta, Iowa, the feature pays $1,000 to win with gates opening at 5 p.m. and racing following 7 p.m. hot laps. Both tour events are 2020 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifying events.
